Activated Carbon Rotary Kiln Working Process
First, the raw materials are subjected to carbonization. Then, the carbonized materials are sieved to remove fine particles smaller than 2 mm, ensuring that the moisture content does not exceed 15%. Next, the material is fed into the elevator bin and lifted to the top feeder. From there, it is uniformly fed into the rotary kiln through a variable frequency feeder. Before feeding, the kiln temperature must reach above 800°C. At this point, an appropriate amount of oxygen is injected into the kiln using a fan, followed by the introduction of steam for material activation. The steam needs to fully penetrate, with 4 tons of steam required for every ton of finished activated carbon. It is important that this steam is not used as diffusion steam, as this would result in high carbon loss rates and reduced efficiency and quality.
As the kiln rotates, the material gradually enters the carbonization preheating zone. When the material temperature reaches approximately 800°C, it enters the activation zone. The material reacts with the steam, causing the temperature to quickly rise to around 900-1050°C. When the material enters the cooling zone, it passes through the kiln discharge pipe into the discharge section, where the temperature is approximately 500-600°C. As it moves through the discharge pipe and cools down to 200°C, the material automatically slides out of the kiln, completing the series of reactions within the kiln.
